Little Gems – Outdoors! – Hailsham

ChristChurch Hailsham warmly invite you to our toddler group meeting at Bushy Wood on Tuesdays between November 3rd and December 15th. We meet from 10-11.30 am. Bushy Wood is next to Knockhatch, just before the roundabout if you are travelling on the a22 northbound. Parking is available. Sessions are run by Eloise (church children's worker) and a team of lovely volunteers, all have current DBS checks. The site has been risk assessed and copies are available if you wish to see them.

Sessions include a variety of activities; walks, woodland crafts, games, bible stories and plenty of free play. They are best suited to children who are walking confidently. Your child will need boots and waterproof clothing/old clothing that can get muddy.

Playing in the woods is great fun and the children really enjoy exploring and creating together. There are lots of benefits to be gained from adventurous play in this setting. There are plenty of natural hazards in woodlands, slippery logs, muddy paths, fungus, berries and sticks. Parents/carers need to be able to supervise their children carefully in this environment to keep their children safe.

Bushy Wood provide toilets that are labelled for Little Gems use and cleaned before and after sessions, there are not currently any baby change facilities. Hand-washing is available here too. We provide hand sanitiser, and usually have spare wipes if needed. Drinks (water) and biscuits are provided in individually wrapped packs. We ask families to take responsibility for social distancing during the session.

Booking can be done weekly, please try to book into the same bubble each time to help us maintain consistency. We have 2 bubbles that do the same activities, with a maximum of 15 children in each. Each session is £2.30, this covers the cost that we pay to use the site. The church provides the drinks, biscuits and other materials. To help limit numbers, we ask people to only send 1 adult per child attending. You don't need to book places for adults, just 1 ticket per child. There is no charge for babies under 12 months accompanying an older sibling

In the event of wet weather we will usually continue with the sessions (there is some shelter provided). If the rain is very heavy we will cancel and let everyone know by email. In the event of high winds we will also cancel, or the site will close for safety reasons. We will ask everyone attending to provide a phone number for track and trace purposes, and to sign an agreement to take responsibility for their child's safety during the sessions.
