Event Description

This is a two-day course for anyone who has little or no knowledge of honeybees but who may wish to become a beekeeper in the future. It will explore the importance of honeybees in the context of interaction and sustainability with other pollinators, the equipment needed and time commitment required to look after a colony of honeybees throughout the year.

Days 1 and 2 will be a mixture of PowerPoint presentations, demonstrations, videos and question and answer sessions.

It is expected that by the end of the course, you be able to:

Understand the yearly cycle of honeybees and other pollinators
Know the equipment needed to manage a honeybee colony
Understand the commitment of the beekeeper to looking after bees in relation to the predators and diseases that may be a threat to honeybees and other pollinators
Led by Julie Coleman, BBKA Master Beekeeper with over 20 years beekeeping experience

Suitable for beginners.
