Event Description
Join us on 27 and 28 November to discover how Christmas was celebrated during the Second World War!
Immerse yourself in the festivities and get a vintage makeover, watch live demonstrations or browse our market for festive handicrafts & last minute treats.
Meet reenactors and learn about the role of animals and discover how ordinary people helped the war effort on the Home Front. You could even learn to Lindy Hop with the Maidstone Lindyhoppers! We’ll also be joined by the Brompton & Invicta Military Wives Choir as they sing traditional carols.
No visit is complete without a trip to see Sapper Santa’s Grotto & Workshop, where little ones can write letters, receive a special gift and create their own Christmas treasures!
Entry to the event is included in standard admission prices. Family activities & Sapper Santa’s Grotto cost £3 each in addition to standard admission prices. The event runs from 10.00am – 5.00pm, with last admission at 4.00pm.
Limited parking is available at the Museum – the nearest public car park is at Medway Park. The nearest train station is Gillingham Station & the nearest bus stop is at the King Charles Hotel.
