A lifelong feminist and environmentalist, Joan Ruddock came to national attention in the 1980s when she became chair of CND.
In 1987 she was elected to parliament as MP for Lewisham Deptford, a constituency in a deprived inner London borough.
Elected six times, she held numerous shadow briefs and became the first full time Minister for Women in 1997.
She will be in conversation with Michael Foster, her former government colleague and former MP for Hastings and Rye.
