Event Description
Dusk safaris are a wonderful chance to see foxes and owls. Groups of fallow and red deer, longhorn cows and Exmoor ponies wander down to ponds and lakes for an evening drink.
Using echo-locators we’ll identify some of Knepp’s 13 species of bats as they fly out to feed over Hammer Pond.
Frogs, insects and, in May, nightingales give voice as night falls, producing an almost equatorial sound, along with the hoots of tawny owls.
The safari winds up with a glass of wine and a last chance to soak in the lovely sounds of evening overlooking the lake.
This is a walking safari, at a gentle pace for about 2.5 hours, with frequent stops for wildlife watching. You’ll need a moderate level of fitness and be able to cope with walking on uneven ground.
