Event Description

Explore the life and discoveries of local hero John Pull
John Pull was a local working-class archaeologist who made discoveries of national importance on the beautiful Worthing Downs. His work at Blackpatch in the 1920s was rubbished by the upper-class establishment and he had to fight to have his talents recognised by the archaeological community. Ultimately, John and his friends spent decades working on uncovering the fascinating Neolithic flint mines on the hills above Worthing, forever changing our knowledge of this revolutionary period in Britain’s history. Determined, quiet and highly regarded throughout his life, by the time he met his untimely end he was truly seen as Worthing’s archaeological hero.

John Pull – Worthing’s Hero Archaeologist will feature newly colourised photographs of John and his excavations, alongside the incredible artefacts he uncovered from deep within the Sussex chalk

Please Note This exhibition is free but donations are gladly welcomed. No need to book, just turn up.
