Event Description
Every year, Royal Tunbridge Wells transforms into a winter wonderland, dazzling visitors with its festive decorations and enchanting atmosphere. This year, the town is set to host an even more spectacular Christmas Kick Off!
The celebrations will kick off on November 14th at 4:30 PM with a lively rock choir performance in front of the Opera House.
At 5pm, witness the launch of a fascinating new animation projection display mapped on the beautiful former Opera House. This 3 minute video will cover the festive elements of the town and will be the perfect way to begin getting in the festive spirit for the town and was only possible with the generous support of Maxipay.
Straight after, Santa’s sleigh belowing out snow will lead a new festive Christmas parade for the town heading along through Mount Pleasant, past the station down to the High Street.
The Santa sing-along sleigh parade will have this year’s pantomine characters from the Assembly Hall’s Aladdin and Trinity Theatre’s Sleeping Beauty lead 12 classic christmas songs for the whole town to join in with.
Song suggestions will be welcome on the RTW Together social pages and the song lyrics will be shared in a digital guide downloadable from the new town app – RTW Love Local on the day.
Furthermore, elves will be handing out chocolate coins and free raffle tickets to all those singing the loudest so there is no excuse for not joining in!
Parade kindly supported by CooperBurnett.
When it arrives on the High Street a little after 6pm Bauble Bingo will take place where local character comedian Kitty Cassis in conjunction with West Kent Radio will hand out a total of 25 prizes!
So make sure to collect a raffle ticket on way to be in with a chance to win one of the prizes bought from local stores in town including the top final prize of a brand new I-Pad!
As the evening draws to a close at 7pm, enjoy a fantastic 8 minute “silent” fireworks display taking off from the roof of Christ Church which should be visible for the High Street and beyond!
The silent fireworks will provide an impressive visual display but have been deliberately picked to be sensitive to local residents and pet owners.
The firework display has been kindly supported by Demelza children’s charity.
Come along and get in the festive mood in Royal Tunbridge Wells – Thursday 14th November 2024.
This event is run by Royal Tunbridge Wells Together – Business Improvement District and delivered in partnership with Maxipay – accounting services, CooperBurnett and Demelza.
