The Edinburgh Fringe – Trinity Theatre, Tunbridge Wells

We are going to Edinburgh and will hopefully be performing a one-act play as well as getting to experience of the biggest performing arts festival in the world.

To give you a rough idea, we would rehearse a bit before exams in 2024, then we would rehearse properly in June and July, before having a really intensive period of rehearsals Monday 29 July – Friday 2 August, and then going to Edinburgh from Sunday 18 – Sunday 25 August. Those weeks in bold, they’re the important ones. If you can’t do those, you can’t do Edinburgh.

In 2022, it cost £650 to take part. Costs have gone up, and I am trying to ensure we can keep it as low as possible. Depending on budgets, the total cost may unfortunately have to increase slightly but we are doing everything we can to make sure it goes down. This fee covers travel, costumes, accommodation, food, rehearsals and the six performances in Edinburgh plus at least one in Kent.

We stay in a big flat, and everyone is free to explore the city, with certain curfews and meet-up times.

There will be bursaries available for those on low income. Our hope is we will be able to reduce the cost for everyone through some fundraising.

It is open to people at Trinity Youth Theatre and Oast Youth Theatre, who have taken part in shows/films/weekly workshops since January 2023 with either group. You must currently be in Year 11-13 (so at least Year 12 from September 2024).

Trinity will staff the week – with several DBS-checked and First Aid trained adults in attendance throughout.

Edinburgh is run as a co-production between Trinity and Oast Youth Theatres, with rehearsals mostly taking place in Tonbridge at The Oast, and producing support coming from Trinity.
