What’s Rockits Sensory All About?

For those who haven’t yet discovered the magic of Rockits Sensory, this incredible space is far more than just a play centre. It’s a welcoming, inclusive, and community-driven hub created by Beth Whatman, a mum of two and a passionate music teacher. When Beth’s eldest son, Rufus, was born with autism, she quickly realised there was a real lack of local support for families like hers. She dreamed of a place where children—both neurodivergent and neurotypical—could play, learn, and thrive together in a nurturing and accepting environment.

With a small rented space on Tenterden High Street, Beth’s vision began to take shape. She started by running baby and toddler music classes alongside sensory and SEND sessions, support groups, and even holiday activities. The demand for these sessions quickly outgrew the space, and within just six months, Rockits Sensory moved to a bigger location. However, it soon became clear that an even bigger step was needed. Families were queuing up to be part of this wonderful community, and the waiting lists were getting longer. It was time for a dream to become a reality!

A Community Crowdfunded Dream: Welcome to The Embassy!

With the incredible support of the local community, Beth and her team managed to crowdfund an astonishing £26,000, enabling Rockits Sensory to take its biggest leap yet—moving into its forever home, The Embassy. Now, this one-of-a-kind venue is well on its way to becoming Kent’s first fully inclusive support hub and play centre for children.

The Embassy isn’t just a play centre—it’s a safe space where all children, regardless of ability, can enjoy, explore, and express themselves. The facilities have been designed to cater to every need, ensuring that children with SEND, as well as neurotypical children, can play side by side. Some of the standout features include:

  • Beautiful Sensory Rooms – Calming, engaging spaces designed to help children explore their senses in a gentle and supportive environment.
  • SEND-Friendly Soft Play – A fantastic play area tailored to ensure accessibility and fun for all children.
  • Wildlife Park Role Play Area – Encouraging creativity and imagination through interactive and engaging play.
  • Dedicated SEN Room for Children and Adults – A space offering both comfort and support for those who need a little extra care.
  • A Volunteer-Run Café – A warm and welcoming spot for parents, carers, and families to relax while the children enjoy their time.

What’s New at The Embassy?
