Sutton Valence Music Society, founded in 1973, offers six concerts a year between September and March. These are normally held in the Music School of Sutton Valence School. Groves Hall is an acoustically designed music room providing a setting both intimate and friendly in which to enjoy performances given by a mix of young award-winning musicians and well established players.
Among the performers this year we will be enjoying a violin recital by Amalia Hall who won the Tunbridge Wells International Young Concert Artist in 2016.
We are also pleased to have the support of the Countess of Munster trust who generously sponsor one concert each season.
The Groves Hall was named in honour of the conductor, Sir Charles Groves, who was a pupil at the school from 1930 to 1932. He was probably best known for his long tenure – 1963 to 1977 – as Musical Director of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and as a regular conductor of the Last Night of the Proms. Sir Charles was a frequent visitor to the school

Our membership scheme offers a reduced season price but tickets are always available on the day. We are very keen to encourage the attendance of young people and so there is no charge for those under 18. Wine and soft drinks are available at Friday evening concerts and complimentary tea and home-made cakes follow those held on Sunday afternoons
