Saturday 2nd March 7pm & 9pm
Ashford history is being re-imagined in a unique performance from storytelling company White Rabbit. ‘Revelation by Candlelight: True Stories and Tall Tale’s’ is a walking tour around St Mary’s Church, one of the oldest sites in Ashford, reimagining myths, legends and drawing inspiration from the historic space itself. It’s the first of two new shows created especially for Revelation and funded by Arts Council England.
White Rabbit are a storytelling arts organization who have made work with and for the National Theatre, Southbank Centre, Birmingham Rep, Thames Festival, National Trust, English Heritage, BFI and LIFT Festival amongst many others.
Lead artist Bernadette Russell says “we want to provide a fictional walking performance tour that takes you around the graveyard, into St Mary’s church and delves into areas that you might not have entered or dreamed existed. We are collecting and creating stories from the past and present, using the building and history as inspiration, and are interweaving them into a unique performance experience.”
Expect transformative candles, live music, interesting characters and a beautiful, magical tale that is completely influenced by Ashford’s past.
